Category Manager

Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd is a leading independent builders’ merchant across the South West of England. Our success is built on our people and the service we provide and we continue to grow by bringing talented individuals into our teams.

We’re now looking for a Category Manager to join our Commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of key product categories and make a real impact on our business performance.

This is a fast-paced role where you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end performance of your categories and suppliers. You’ll develop and deliver category plans that meet customer needs, strengthen our competitiveness, and support our overall commercial strategy.

You’ll work closely with teams across the business- from Operations and Pricing to Ecommerce and Stock Management- ensuring we’re making the right decisions on range, pricing, promotions, and supplier partnerships. It’s a role that combines data, relationships, and commercial thinking, with plenty of opportunity to influence and drive change.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in all three- ensuring strong supplier performance, maintaining product availability, and helping us deliver great value and service to our customers.

This role could suit you if you:

  • Have experience as a Category Manager, Buyer, or in a similar commercial role
  • Enjoy analysing performance and using data to drive decisions
  • Are confident managing relationships and negotiating commercial agreements
  • Are organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Are comfortable having challenging conversations and influencing outcomes
  • Take pride in improving processes and delivering results

You’ll also need to be commercially aware, a strong communicator, and confident working across different teams and levels of the business.
