The Opportunity
At Bradfords Building Supplies Ltd, we’re looking for a commercially minded Credit Assistant Manager to join our finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is not a traditional credit control role — we need someone who can balance risk management with commercial growth, working closely with internal stakeholders and a large, diverse customer base to drive cash performance while supporting sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the leadership of the credit control function, helping to drive performance across the team
- Manage and oversee a large and complex ledger, ensuring timely cash collection
- Build strong relationships with key customer accounts, negotiating payment plans where required
- Partner with sales and operational teams to enable profitable growth while managing risk
- Review and assess credit limits, making commercially sound decisions
- Handle escalations and complex account queries with professionalism and authority
- Analyse aged debt, identify trends, and implement improvements
About You
- Proven experience in a senior credit control or credit management role
- Demonstrable experience managing high-volume, high-value customer accounts
- Strong commercial awareness — able to balance customer relationships with cash and risk
- Confident communicator, comfortable challenging both customers and internal stakeholders
- Highly organised, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in a fast-paced, operational or multi-site environment (builders merchants or similar advantageous)
